I am an essayist, culture critic, journalist and teacher, with a particular focus on the writing and teaching of the personal essay and memoir. I’ve been publishing work since I was 16, and am a contributor to leading newspapers and magazines, as well as the editor of the award-winning anthology, Lost Tribe: Jewish Fiction from the Edge.

For more information about my writing, please check out my page of selected essays and journalism.

For the past six years I’ve also taught the art and craft of personal essay and memoir to working writers throughout the Northeast U.S. Please step inside to learn more about working with me.
